Today would have marked Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s 85th Birthday! King was the leader of the African-American Civil Rights Movement, humanitarian, activist, pastor and just a phenomenal role model to people all over the world. He is best known for his role in the advancement of civil right using nonviolent civil disobedience based on his religious beliefs.
BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music), will host it’s “Annual Brooklyn Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” on Monday, January 20th promptly at 10:30. Tickets are free and are handed out on a first come first serve basis, so we encourage you to get there early. Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams will be the Master of Ceremony and a keynote address from activist, author and professor Angela Davis. A full program sure to inspire and educate!
Following the tribute, BAM Rose Cinema’s will host a free screening of the amazing documentary “Free Angela Davis and All Political Prisoners” (2012), with an introduction by  Angela Davis herself!
