Häagen-Dazs Re-opens It’s Original Ice Cream Shop In Downtown Brooklyn

Back on November 15, 1976, Doris Mattus, daughter of Reuben and Rose Mattus — founders of Häagen-Dazs ice-cream, opened the first Häagen-Dazs Shop at 120 Montague Street. Forty years later, on July 16, 2016, the ice-cream brand will celebrate the grand reopening of its original shop, now franchised by Michael Schuster.
“Celebrating the grand reopening of the original Häagen-Dazs shop here in Brooklyn is another exciting milestone in the history of the brand,” said Adam Hanson, Häagen-Dazs Shoppe Company President and General Manager, in a recent release.
The Downtown Brooklyn shop has gone through a complete renovation and features the Häagen-Dazs brand’s new, more modern footprint, which incorporates old-world tradition with modern touchpoints that create the ice cream café experience of the future.
“This shop is akin to Brooklyn. Brooklyn is full of old-world heritage and has seen its own transformation into a modern and very desirable New York neighborhood,” said Franchise Owner Michael Schuster. “Our team is proud to be part of the Häagen-Dazs family and the Brooklyn community.”

Adams. “During this summer season, visitors to the Montague Street shop will have an opportunity to cool down with delicious treats while celebrating a borough that has never been hotter.”
