The Brooklyn Nets can’t seem to catch a break this season. Having lost to the Atlanta Hawks last night, making them 0-5 at the start of their fourth season in Brooklyn, they still manage to keep a loyal fan base.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Bed-Stuy rapper, Fabolous talks his love for his hometown basketball team.
“Just seeing the words ‘Brooklyn’ on the jersey, the people there in the stands, the people of Brooklyn and the people working there,” Fabolous tells Rolling Stone. “I’ve seen people I grew up with working in the stadium – it’s dope they kept it in the community.”
Last year Fabolous talk to Billboard about his dream of watching the Brooklyn Nets go further in the playoffs; coincidentally having lost the series to the same team they lost to last night. “I thought, if they [Brooklyn Nets]  could get really focused, they could’ve snuck a series out of Atlanta because they just match up well with them. All of the pieces aren’t there so that’s probably why they lost. Now I’m just really rooting for a good game.”

If you’ve ever been to a Brooklyn Nets game at Barclays Center, while they’re winning, the fans are always super pumped yelling out “BROOOOOOKLYNNNN.” We have Fabolous to thank for that awesome chant.
“There’s a chant I started on a song, maybe in ’04, it goes ‘Brook-lyn! Brook-lyn!’ and they actually use that chant to rile the crowd up. It’s really dope to hear that.”
The Nets need a win this Friday against the Los Angeles Lakers, who are equally as bad, at least for Fabolous’ sake.
