Exclusive – Brooklyn Creates Art!

Make-up is a true art. When it comes to the perfection of the craft, Shaina Eve has got it under her belt! Shaina who is now 27 years old, was born and raised in the East New York section of Brooklyn. She has defined the artistic craft of the enhancement of beauty. Shaina understands beauty and knows how to capture and expand it and also how to express it.
Having just finished a hectic New York Fashion Week, painting the faces of models for the runway, we made some time to talk about her amazing career. Shania’s beauty is clearly visible on the outside but her spirit is that much more of what it is to be “Truly Beautiful”.
Q: How was Fashion Week?
A: Crazy!! I mean there was no rest! Everything was back to back.
Q: Why Makeup?
A: Since I was little I had this passion for art. I was always drawing. I attended LaGuardia High School as an Art Major and always loved color. I also worked at MAC Cosmetics for about 5 years and my goal was to become certified in runway makeup. I always wanted to do freelance and have my own thing on the side.
Q: Who are some of the celebrity faces you worked on?
A: I’ve worked on Aubrey O’Day and D.Woods (Danity Kane), I also work on the ladies from Girl Code and Guy Code (MTV) and that was all in the last year. Then I’ve worked Fashion Weeks in the past for designers like Catherine Malandrino, Rebecca Taylor, and Nina Ricci.
Q: Is there a celebrity face you would absolutely love to work on?
A: I would LOVE to work with Jennifer Lopez! She has that flawless, beautiful and glowing skin. I would also love to work with Nikki Minaj. (Laughs) She is so beautiful and has some amazing features. I would love to tweak her make up just a bit to make her look even more beautiful. And of course, Halle Berry!
Q: I love your Halloween Make-up from last year, is that your favorite time to do make-up?
A: YES!! You get to have so much fun. This is where I can be the most creative with my work. I also do body-paint. I actually didn’t work because I wanted to go all out. So I created this amazing look that was very tedious and took me about 2 1/2 hours to work on myself. If that was on someone else, I am such a perfectionist, it could have taken up to 7 hours! To me this is fun! I love what I do and I get to have fun with it!
Q: How did you build your social network following?
A: Well I use to work for Honey Magazine and I met so many great people. That’s actually how I met Aubrey O’Day and D. Woods. That’s also where I started to build my portfolio as well. You know what, I actually gave social media a rest for a long time and when I came back it was strictly work and a year later from me having Instagram and Facebook pictures of myself and my work, the following just shot up!

Give yourself a fair chance. Venture out! Don’t be afraid to get away. Be inspired by life! I know what it’s like to grow up in one little area and to just see that world. But this is not it, you must go away, and experience different things! Again get inspired!
