According to Buzzfeed.com, there are 19 specific signs to tell you are from Brooklyn! In my opinion, this article for the most part makes perfect sense and is pretty on point. Their list is raw and unforgiving, holding to the total truth of what Brooklyn stands for. If you were born and raised here, like me (26 years and never leaving), you have seen the changes in Brooklyn. Thankfully, Buzzfeed doesn’t care about those newcomers! Lets analyze their list!

When people ask you where you are from, you don’t say New York. You say Brooklyn
People who really are from Brooklyn know that hipster artisanal cheese nonsense has nothing to do with the real Brooklyn
You refer to Manhattan as “the city”

My personal favorites are 1, 2, 10, 11, 16 and 18, the entire list really. But you can tell the writer of this piece was probably born here or is pretty good at faking the funk. Brooklyn is not this new age “hipster city”. It’s a lot deeper than that. We have come so far. Yes, Brooklyn is evolving but the heart and soul of what this borough is really about is the struggle to make it! The dream that Brooklyn has given is that there is always so much more.

Yes, Brooklynites do slightly believe that Brooklyn is the best borough in New York (because it is). Brooklyn is the hot spot. Everyone wants to live here! We have the Barclay’s Center and a pretty good basketball team.

And lastly, there surely isn’t anything like a Brooklyn girl! Anything!
