In the first half, the Magic took an early lead and shot an impressive 60% from beyond the arc. The Magic also relied heavily on their center Nikola Vucevic to do damage in the paint. The Nets found themselves in the 5 point deficit late in the 2nd quarter. Joe Johnson and Deron Williams both contributed by scoring 10 points each by the half. Mason Plumlee was resilient on the glass with 2nd and 3rd shot attempts under the rim that gave him frequent trips to the free throw line.

Brooklyn however couldn’t tie or take the lead as the Magic went up at the half, 52-50.

Down by 2 to start the second half, The Nets didn’t allow themselves to fall into the trap of playing against the Magic’s record or conference standing. Instead, Brooklyn decided to fight back. Yes, Brooklyn pride set the tone especially for Bojan Bogdanovic. The Croatian shooting guard, came unglued in the 2nd half. Bogdanovic caused multiple turnovers, steals, and scoring 11 points in the opening minutes of the 3rd erupting the Brooklyn crowd.

The Magic tried to silence the packed Brooklyn audience with their best offensive asset in Nikola Vucevic. Vucevic easily bothered Brook Lopez and the Nets in the paint from start to finish scoring 27 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

The Nets and Magic continued their back and forth battle that saw Channing Frye of the Orlando Magic, hit another 3 pointer that put them up 89-87 for their first lead of the 2nd half. Soon after Nets coach Lionel Hollins, put together a line up never seen on the floor this season. He entered Deron Williams, Alan Anderson, Joe Johnson, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Kevin Garnett. A couple of great things came out of this line up; the Nets went on a 15-3 run in the 4th quarter and finally rendered for Vucevic useless. The Magic center didn’t score nor have another shot attempt for the remaining 5:55 seconds of the game.
