Affordable Housing Lotteries Open in Bed-Stuy & South Slope

For those looking to rent in Brooklyn without breaking the bank, a number of affordable housing lotteries have opened in both Bedford-Stuyvesant and South Slope.

A new development located at 869 Park Ave., in the heart of Bed-Stuy, is now accepting applications for nine affordable housing units. Qualifying locals who earn 60 percent of the area’s median income — about $33,772 and $45,840 annually — could score a one bedroom apartment for $985/mo.

Amenities in the five-story building include an elevator, and for additional fees, fitness center and laundry room. The building is directly across the street from Woodhull Hospital and is a little over a block away form the J, M and Z trains as well as a number of Brooklyn buses. The building is smoke-free.

Preference for half the units will go to municipal employees and current residents of Community Board 3.
