Don’t miss the BKBF Children’s Day (ages 2-11) in MetroTech Commons. Children’s Day celebrates the power of storytelling and the importance of literature in children’s lives. Bring the kids and enjoy readings, art projects, and workshops, as children’s and middle-grade authors present new and beloved children’s books. Families will have a fun-filled day outdoors meeting costumed characters, joining musical performances, and browsing the Children’s Marketplace of booksellers.

Ever wanted to forage but didn’t know how? Ever wanted to know what plants were good for what body part and to help you get over an illness? Looked at a plant or fruit and wondered what it was? If you answered ‘Yes’ to at least one of these questions then this is the tour for you! The purpose of this hands on program is to learn about the many common, renewable, edible and medicinal wild plants and mushrooms rowing in your neighborhood. The best part is that the famous “Wildman” Steve Brill is guiding this tour and naturalist-author Steve Brill is America’s go-to-guy for foraging. With over 35 years experience, leading forging tours and demos to the public since 1982 he’s also been featured in an array of newspapers, magazines and TV shows including The David Letterman Show, The BBC, The Los Angeles Times to name a few. TOAST OF BROOKLYN, A WINE AND FOOD FESTIVAL

This festival began as a celebration of the historic community of Bedford Stuyvesant but has transformed into a truly spectacular occasion for the culturally diverse borough of Brooklyn. Most of the world’s prestigious wines and spirits suppliers along with many local and boutique wineries will be sampling a wide array of fine wines and aged spirits. This year, in addition to the culinary excellence of our Brooklyn chefs, we will feature international chefs from around the world.
