Troy Ave may have just been indicted on attempted murder and weapons possession charges for the deadly event that took the life of his friend Ronald “Banga” McPhatter at an Irving Plaza concert last month, but he’s trying to stay positive and do as much good as he can.

The Brooklyn rapper, real name Roland Collins, has recently unveiled an athletic scholarship at New Utrecht High School in Bensonhurst, where both McPhatter and he attended. Collins’ lawyer, Scott Leemon, announced today the school’s football team senior defensive end, Gianni Penso, was presented with a scholarship in McPhatter’s name. The scholarship is said to provide $2000 a year to Penso for the next five years.

“When my son suggested [the scholarship] from jail I thought it was brilliant,” Mrs. Collins, Troy Ave’s mother, told Vlad TV. “Edgar would love it, it’s such a good way to represent him.”
