If you dreamed of being a clown this halloween, you might want to re-think your costume.

Due to the “crazy clown craze” Target has officially pulled all of its clown masks in stores nationwide and on online “out of sensitivity for the issue at hand,” Joshua Thomas, a spokesperson for Target, said Sunday.

Reports of people wearing creepy clown masks have been an ongoing problem for more than 20 states across the country as of late. Though the NYPD has urged New Yorkers not to be afraid of the creepy clown takeover, just earlier this month a person wearing a clown mask was menacing subway passengers at the 96th Street subway station in Manhattan. According to details from an NYPD spokesperson, a 16-year-old boy was trying to exit the train when a person wearing a clown mask and holding a knife stood in the doorway, preventing passengers from exiting. The teen allegedly brushed against the clown, and the clown chased him through the station.

Some towns in Connecticut and NJ have gone as far as banning clown costumes all together, reports say. Many schools have also been closed while officials investigated threats of violence from creepy clowns on social media.

Evil clown costume sales are up 300%, costume chain Halloween Express recently told Eye Opener TV, though no word on clown costume sales from Target have risen or fallen since the craze.
