Jay Boogie is everything flamboyant and straight fire.

Earlier this year, he came out with his premiere album “Allure,” which drew from his Dominican heritage and vogue ballroom roots. This week, he released his follow-up album “MY H.O.E.” after a live performance at Livestream Public in Bushwick on Monday (which online viewers were able to stream as well for free). You can find the archived performance here.

Jay Boogie’s performances to me are purr-ific and inspirational. At his show this past Monday, Boogie shares his life philosophy: “Don’t wait for anybody to do anything for you. Don’t be afraid to ask either. The worst that can happen is that someone not gonna give it you [something you want, that is]. Sometimes people just don’t know how to say, “I’m sorry I can’t give you what you need.” Everything in this room right now is something that I’ve wanted. Something that I dreamed of. Something that I breathed into existence. If you want a red carpet, don’t wait for someone to roll it out for you. Roll it out yourself. You’re your best fan.”

Boogie’s song “Precious” I personally liked because as he says, “I just want people to bop unapologetically to this song. That’s what “Precious” is. It’s about looking in the mirror and saying you’re precious. It’s about doing the opposite of how you’re feeling. Stay tuned for the video.”
