With NBA All-Star 2015 events kicking off in Brooklyn yesterday, we had to catch up with the man who has become the star player of the Brooklyn Nets while still considerably a rookie in the NBA. Nets’ forward, Mason Plumlee will participate in this year’s Rising Stars Challenge and Sprite Slam Dunk Contest; both to be held in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Yesterday, before Mason Plumlee participated in the NBA House events held at LIU Brooklyn Paramount Theatre, OurBKSocial had a chance to exclusively chat with the second year pro about NBA All-Star, Andray Blatche, and Lance Stephenson.

OurBKSocial: Mason, coming off your three-game road trip and you’re back in Brooklyn. How does it feel?

Mason Plumlee: It feels good to be back. It was a rough trip for us. We didn’t come up with any wins but I think this break will give our team some rest, get guys healthy, and hopefully we’ll come out of this stronger.

OBKS: Now you’ve been in the Rising Stars Challenge last year. How do you go into it this year? Do you approach it differently?

MP: Not really. I’m going to go out and enjoy it. Last year I was on the losing side of it so you want to win this year and just enjoy the game in front of the home crowd.

OBKS:  Have you and Bojan Bogdanovic talked about what you guys are going to do to each other?

MP: No we haven’t. We’re not going to match up, unless we switch off on each other or something. If he does than I’m taking him right to the black.

OBKS:  In terms of the dunk contest now, I know last night you talked to Sarah [Kustok]. You said that you didn’t have a lot of time to practice. Did you think about it on you’re way back?

MP: Oh I’ve thought about it a lot. I was thinking about it before (laughs) they invited me but, you know I’m excited. I think it’s a good group. I’m going to be confident in what I do. I have two dunks that I’m pretty sure of. Then you only need four to win it so ill come up with two more.

Exclusive: Mason Plumlee Talks All-Star, Blatche & Lance Stephenson

OBKS:  Now for next year, do you plan on being in the actual NBA All-Star Game?

MP: Yes, I would love to. You know that’s every players goal and that’s a goal of mine. I would  love to be in the ALL-STAR game next year.

OBKS:  You guys have one more spot on your roster, how would you like to see Andray Blatche return?

MP: I would love to have Dray Live back in the line up.

OBKS:  I think a lot of people would.

MP: Yeah.

OBKS:  What are your thoughts on the rumors of Lance Stephenson coming to the Nets. Would you like to see something like that happen?

MP: Yes. I’ve known Lance since high school. I’ve been a fan of his since we were in high school together. I think he’s a really good player. Obviously, I know everyone wants it for the Brooklyn aspect (Lance was born in Brooklyn), but having a team mate that’s aggressive and hungry and a competitor; you’re always going to be for that.
