In what was an absolute no excuse, must win game, the Nets fell apart against the Bulls right in front of their home crowd. All the hope and promise the Nets showed in their 6 game win streak never appeared tonight. The Bulls simply controlled the Nets from start to finish and were the better team on the Barclays Center floor. The Nets fans dimmed as the Chicago Bulls fans cheered their team onto victory. Here’s how it all went down.

Bulls controlled the tip and put points on the boards first. The Nets showed up early in this quarter but this was the only quarter were the Nets seemed that they could actually win a must win game. The Nets even had a 6-point lead, 12-6 but the Bulls fought back much to tie. The speed of Derrick Rose was too much for Brooklyn. Both teams played tug-of-war with the scoreboard but there Nets ended up in the mud down 5 to close the quarter, 26-21. Deron Williams could not buy a basket in this game or in yesterdays.

2nd quarter and the Nets opened things up with one free throw and actually cut the lead to 3, 27-24 Bulls. Chicago would respond and you could tell that they were the tougher team on the floor. The 3 balls from the Bulls didn’t help matters for the Nets. The lead ballooned to 50-39 and this large gap not only followed the Nets as the 1st half closed but through the rest of the game. Nets trail the Bulls 57-50.

The Bulls came out of the half ready and simply dominated the Nets, expanding their lead to 73-59.  Nets missed easy baskets, just like they were doing yesterday in Milwaukee. This is the quarter where the Nets collapsed and put their playoff hopes at the mercy of the other teams in the NBA. Nothing worked right for the Nets and everything gelled for the Bulls as the score displayed a commanding lead of 87-65. A blowout game early. Bulls outscored the Nets 30-15 in the quarter.

Final quarter and the Bull continue their dominance scoring first and sending the Nets fans home early. If you looked around Barclays Center during this quarter you would’ve sworn that you were in Chicago because of the sea of red shirts in the crowd. Red is the team color of the Bulls by the way. No need to discuss this quarter an further as the Nets head coach Lionel Hollings emptied his bench and waved the white flag. Bulls crush the Nets 113-86. The faces of the Nets told the story of disappointment, anger, and confusion. The same faces that all Nets fans have at this time as the Nets have fallen out of the playoff picture with only one game left in the regular season.
