It’s a bird! It’s a plane! Wait, it’s just a gravity defying floating Rubik’s Cube shaped coffee table. 2015 has welcomed the future of furniture.

Rock Paper Robot, a Brooklyn engineering and design firm, has created a table that is magically held together by a magnetic force giving off the illusion that it’s floating while in fact it’s in perfect place. The elasticity of the table is tested when pressure is applied. If a coffee table is not really your speed, there is a floating shelf that is also available for purchase.

According to Brooklyn resident, Jessica Banks, the CEO and founder of Rock Paper Robot, “they relish in defying expectations through artful execution with a staunch allegiance to utility, (apparent) simplicity, and technical excellence.” Banks is  also a trained roboticist and proud owner of an Engineer’s and a Master’s degree from MIT.
