Yesterday, Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams, in partnership of Council Member Mark Treyger and the Alliance for Coney Island, announced the first-ever New Year’s Eve ball drop in Coney Island. The iconic Parachute Jump will be the site of a digital countdown display that will ring in 2015 complete with music and a fireworks show.

“This New Year’s Eve, you won’t want to miss our beachfront Boardwalk blast in Brooklyn!” Adams said today in an earlier press conference. “Now that we have our very own seaside ball drop, why be squished like a sardine in Times Square when you can rejoice like royalty in the County of Kings!”

The boardwalk bars and restaurants will be open for the duration of the evening and host a number of after parties.
