Early last week, Made In NY announced they’d be joining Brooklyn College at Steiner Studios to launch the first public and nation’s only, graduate school of cinema on a film lot.

Made In NY is every creator’s dream. The company’s sole purpose is to support those in the film, television, entertainment and most recently, fashion. Even mayor Bill Di Blasio is a huge fan of Made In NY, as he too is committed to strengthening the city’s innovation.

To those, not interested in cinema or film, that announcement might’ve meant absolutely nothing to you but here’s what it meant for those that do care. Students of said categories in Brooklyn will now have a place to come and produce films, creating new opportunities for many. The collaboration offers oppurtunity for diversity to be displayed in the film industry. This collaboration will also make it more affordable and a lot more realistic for many to have a career in film. Made In NY does well with providing resources, and benefits to aid in the growth of startups. Their media partners include BuzzFeed, LinkedIn, Shuttershock, WordPress.com, and tons more, so members of their program are in great company.

This is a big deal for Brooklyn College, and we’d like to extend a congratulations to all of the students apart of this amazing program. Be sure to checkout Made In NY’s hashtag #MadeInNY to see what they’re all about.
