While Macy’s Herald Square might be a huge tourist attraction, Macy’s Downtown Brooklyn has been suffering for years. Back in July of 2014, Macy’s Downtown put its store on the market in hopes of attracting a developer that would revamp the long standing super-store and it looks like prayers have been answered.

Reports state that Macy’s has finally inked a deal with Tishman Speyer to redevelop the 378,000 square feet, Brooklyn flagship. The $170 million deal will cut the retail shop down to 310,000 square feet and develop about ten floors of office space. The shops interior will be completely remodeled and include a ground-floor Starbucks. (Developers must love Starbucks.)

Work is scheduled to begin on both the retail and office spaces next spring, with completion expected by the fall of 2018. And if you’re one of the few who still shop at Macy’s Downtown, have no fear, the shop will remain open for your spending pleasure.
