Lincoln Center Brings Free Workshops & Exhibitions To Sunset Park

In honor of the cu Boro-Linc initiative, the Lincoln Center is bringning the art of Manhattan to the borough of Brooklyn. The Boro-Linc program  launched in 2015 with hopes to offer free, family-friendly performances, workshops, and exhibitions to all five boroughs including the Bronx, Lower East Side and Jamaica, Queens.

The Lincoln Center has orchestrated several cultural workshops, from film screenings to free Friday concerts, set to run from February – July. The program is designed to cater to families and children of all different age groups.

The cultivating art tour will kick things off in Sunset Park at Sunset Park School Health on 343 60th Street.

The Brooklyn Center for Family Life in Sunset Park schedule is as follows:

Friday, Feb. 26

7 to 8 p.m. – Lincoln Center Education: Elena Moon Park and Friends. (Recommended for kids ages 3 to 8.)

Friday, March 18

7 to 8 p.m. – Film Society of Lincoln Center: CineKids: A screening of award-winning short films and a discussion. (Recommended for kids ages 6 to 12.)

Friday, April 15

7 to 8 p.m. – Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center: Chamber Music Beginnings. (Recommended for children ages 6 to 10.)

Friday, June 3

7 to 9 p.m. – Metropolitan Opera Guild: Opera in your Neighborhood – A workshop for kids to learn about opera and create a mini-opera about the neighborhood. (Recommended for children ages 6 to 12. No prior music experience is needed.)

Friday, July 15

7 p.m. – Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca: A music and Flamenco dance workshop for the whole family. (Arrive early, space is limited.)

8 p.m. – The dance and music troupe will perform.

Friday, July 29

7 p.m. – Lincoln Center Education: A dance workshop to learn the traditional steps from Veracruz, Mexico with performers from the Mazarte Mexican dance company.

8 p.m. – A performance from The Villalobos Brothers with original songs that bring together classical, jazz and Mexican folk music.
