Summer weather is finally here and we all desire to spend our days having fun in the sun. Nothing makes a Brooklynite happier in the summertime than to be amongst people outdoors. So, I’ve compiled a list of the top five most enjoyable ways to enjoy your summer in Brooklyn.

1. Syfy Movies With A View

Imagine grabbing a blanket and a buddy and watching a movie under the stars with the view of New York City on one side and the Brooklyn Bridge on another. It sounds like a dream, doesn’t it? Well how about turning this dream into a reality? Starting July 10, the Brooklyn Bridge Park is hosting a FREE movie series titled “Syfy Movies with a View.” The event is open to everyone. After a long day of work, this is where you want to be. Oh yeah, don’t forget to grab some popcorn before the movie begins!

Visit Brooklynbridgepark.org to find the complete list of movies.

2. Smorgasburg

For all of you Brooklyn foodies out there, this event is your event! Smorgasburg is an outdoor food market that brings the best street food in Brooklyn to two locations every weekend. Smorgasburg is located at East River Park on the Williamsburg Waterfront on Saturdays, and on Sundays, Smorgasburg is located at the Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 5. Both locations are great for mixing, mingling and picnicking. I suggest  bringing between $20 and$40 in CASH. It all depends on how big your appetite is; or shall I say how big your eyes are for your appetite! Either way, I’m sure you’ll find something that will satisfy both.

Further details and a vendor list can be found at Smorgasburg.com.

3. Celebrate Brooklyn

It’s not what you say, but rather “how” unica-web.com (cialis samples) you say it.

It is time to “Celebrate Brooklyn”! All summer long, BRIC Arts is hosting an outdoor performing arts festival in Prospect Park with various entertainers, dancers and musicians. This year’s line-up includes performances by the Dance Theater of Harlem and a concert by the Dum Dum Girls. Most of these events are free while few require a ticket fee.

Detailed information can be found on BricArtMedia.org.

4. AfroPunk

AfroPunk is a free music festival with live concerts and performers, art, vendors, food, music, free giveaways, and a rock-climbing wall. Thousands of people attend to experience this event and enjoy the summer in Brooklyn. This year’s 10th annual AfroPunk fest will be held August 23-24, 2014 at Commodore Barry Park in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Performers include D’Angelo and Body Count lead by Ice-T and SZA. Out of all the events you attend this summer, put AfroPunk in your “must do’s.” It is the best combination of everything you want to do during the summer all at once!

Feel free to visit Afropunkfest.com for further details and to view the entire performance line-up.

5. Brooklyn Bridge Park Pop-Up Pool

Brooklyn has managed to bring a Pop-Up Pool and Beach to Brooklyn Bridge Park. I am convinced Brooklyn can do almost anything now! Beginning June 27, 2014, there will be a 30 by 50 foot, 3.5 feet deep pool in Brooklyn open to families from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Adjacent to the pool is a sandy beach where adults can enjoy refreshing drinks after 6 p.m. I don’t know about you, but I am excited and ready to go for a swim! Are you?
