Flatbush Zombies‘ highly anticipated second album, Vacation In Hell, is set to drop April 6. Earlier this week, the psychedelic hip-hop group took to Twitter to announce the album’s track list. Then, yesterday they announced (also on Twitter) an album release party at Williamsburg record shop/venue Rough Trade.

The group, comprised of Eric “The Architect” Elliott, Meechy Darko, and Zombie Juice, released their first album, 3001: A Laced Odyssey, in 2016. It debuted at number 10 on the Billboard 200 and received quiet critical acclaim. The weird, idiosyncratic, lucid dream-acid trip of an album is full of thoughtful lyrics and excellent production from beginning to end. Vacation In Hell looks to be along the same lines. The album’s single, “Headstone,” is a lyrically dense homage to rappers who’ve either died or declined in popularity. If the single is any indication of the rest of the album, the sophomore effort will build on 3001‘s success and could take the group to the next level.

The track list reveals a handful of guest producers, featuring Kirk Knight, Tyler Dopps, and Portugal. The Man, among others. It will be interesting to see how that changes the group’s sound given that Zombies member Elliott exclusively produced 3001. As for features, the Zombies have pulled in some big names. They’ve got fellow Brooklyn natives and previous collaborators Joey Bada$$ and Nyck Caution, Jadakiss, Bun B to name a few. This could help to attract an even wider audience to the album.

As part of promoting the album and before kicking off a nationwide headlining tour that includes an appearance at Coachella, Flatbush Zombies announced their album release party at Rough Trade. On April 6, the group will be there to perform songs off of Vacation and sign albums after the show. To get into the party, fans will have to pre-order Vacation on Rough Trade’s website for just $15. Zombies concerts are reputed to be insanely energetic and wild, so it’s an excellent opportunity to see them live.
