With just a few hours until Resurrection Sunday, better known as Easter, Christians around the globe are celebrating with more than just the generic egg hunts.

Christians Honor Good Friday With Brooklyn Bridge Cross Walk

Good Friday, the Friday that falls right before Easter, commemorates the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. Places like Los Angeles, Ohio, Pennsylvania and right here in Brooklyn honored the “Way of The Cross” yesterday. The “Way of the Cross,” or as some people may call it, the stations of the cross is made up of fourteen stations that are related to the hours of Jesus Christ’s life leading up to and after his crucifixion. Specific stations include Jesus carrying the cross, Jesus being nailed to the cross and Jesus being placed in the tomb.

In Brooklyn, Firefighter John Bartlett held the cross as the procession of hundreds followed from Brooklyn, over the Brooklyn Bridge and into Lower Manhattan.
