The Bushwick Flea just can’t seem to find a home base that it likes.

It was announced this week that the popular flea market will be relocating to a new Bushwick location.  Instead of the previously announced location (planned for off of the Meserole St L train stop), the Flea will now be based at 16 Harrison Place, off of the Morgan L train stop.

Speaking to Bushwick Daily, owner and operator Rob Abner said that negotiations for the Meserole St. location fell through. Despite the hiccup, Abner believes that the new location is “way better situated” than the prior.

Opened as an alternative to the pricier Brooklyn Flea in 2015, the Bushwick Flea features local vendors of all kinds. It was founded partially out of frustration to stricter flea market rules.

“The Brooklyn Flea is great, but it is very big and touristy,” Abner told the Brooklyn Paper. “Ours will be a little cozier and more neighborhood-like.”

Brooklyn Flea co-owner Eric Demby declined to comment on the new Flea at the time.

Vendors at the Bushwick Flea offer vintage furniture, jewelry and various home goods. During the Flea’s 2016 season, vendors played live music and sold various foods like popsicles.

Past businesses that have sold goods at the Bushwick Flea include Zingara Vintage, made + reclaimed and Alpha & Omega Jewelry. Prices for vendors are significantly lower than at rival markets, with 2015 prices for vendor spaces marked as low as $75 per day. Abner also offered a discounted rate of $500 for monthly vendors – a number that is significantly cheaper than the Brooklyn Flea’s $1,200 monthly rate.

The Bushwick Flea begins its 2017 season on Saturday, March 17 and on Sunday, March 18 with a Grand Re-Opening Party. It will be located at 16 Harrison Place.
