Two talented teenagers 17 year old Melanie Vives of Williamsburg and 18 year old Uriah Thompson of Starrett City will train at two of the most esteemed culinary institutes in the nation! They both landed scholarships in a citywide showdown of young kitchen stars. They competed against 21 other students from eight different high schools across the city to show off their skills, technique and taste in front of some established culinary judges.

Melanie currently works as a pantry cook at the famous mexican restaurant Dos Caminos in the Meatpacking District, and will be attending the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park. Uriah will be attending Johnson & Wales University in Providence, R.I. Both Melanie and Uriah dream of owning their own restaurants one day.
