Pit Bull Who Saved Teen From Would-be Rapist In Red Hook Gets Major Reward

5-month-old pit bull, Apollo is being called a hero for saving his owner’s girlfriend from a rape attempt in Red Hook.

Maya Fairweather, 18, had been walking the puppy at Red Hook Recreation Area park in November, when a man approached her from behind, grabbed her, threw her to the ground and try to take off her pants. As the attacker tried to remove Fairweather’s clothing, Apollo flew into action biting the attacker’s leg and causing him to run away, police say.
