BK Lobster (535 Nostrand Avenue), a new fast-casual restaurant specializing in lobster rolls, is set to open in Crown Heights on Saturday. The first of its kind in the borough, founded by “master franchise developer” Rodney Bonds, has an extensive menu of lobster rolls named after areas of Brooklyn: the “Bay Ridge Roll”, “Flatbush Roll”, “Coney Island Roll”, “Brooklyn Latin Roll” and the “BK Sauce Roll.” Each roll has ingredients inspired by its moniker, and some include vegan components. “The Flatbush Roll”, for example, has jerk sauce representing the area’s Caribbean community, and the “Lobster V-BLT” is loaded with vegan bacon. The vegan ingredients make the lobster rolls an excellent choice for pescatarians, flexitarians, or anyone who just can’t give up seafood.

Bonds came up with the idea for BK Lobster when he noticed that the lobster roll shop had become a phenomenon in recent years but was not available in several key locations around the country. With this in mind, he created an exquisite menu and decided to create a franchisable restaurant.

“I decided to fill a void and create an opportunity in Brooklyn to create the concept, ‘BK Lobster, the lobster roll shop from Brooklyn to beyond,'” Bonds says. “We know that residents will love our approach to serving quick lobsters in a luxurious setting.”

And luxurious it is. Bonds added the first-ever 24K gold-infused lobster roll — the “Golden Lobster Roll.” The extravagant $100 seafood item is laced with edible gold leaves and comes with a glass of 23K wine.

BK Lobster will host its grand opening on Saturday, August 17, at 3 p.m. The restaurant is scheduled to open additional restaurants in Harlem, Miami, and Los Angeles by the end this year. To learn about franchise opportunities visit bklobster.com.
