87-Year-Old Brooklyn Campus Safety Officer Graduates From Medgar Evers College

You’re never too old to achieve your goals. Hubert Evans is a prime example.

Evans, a 87-year-old man born in Jamaica, but raised in Brooklyn is a father of seven, grandfather to 11, great-grandfather of five and now college graduate. Evans, having received his Bachelor’s degree from Medgar Evers College in Crown Heights, has become the oldest degree recipient in the CUNY system for 2016.

For 10 years, Evans also held a full-time job as a campus safety officer at Brooklyn College, while completing his studies and doesn’t plan on stoping anytime soon. After earning his degree in liberal studies, Evans ultimate goal is to begin a career in social work and pursue a master’s degree.
